Built 2011, 4 bedroom, 5.5 bathroom, 3715 square feet
This custom residence was designed with grand interior spaces all focusing around the central courtyard and pool that is viewed through the curved glass wall on the first and second floor. The curved wall allows for natural light to enter the living and dining space without overheating the interior. Along the curved wall rests a stepped overhang shading overhead sun and blocking intense western sun. The northern orientation of the building allows for the summer months to get indirect sunlight into the courtyard while providing the opportunity for sun to enter the space with the winter months lower sun angle. The exposed natural stone tile in the front and white stucco encompassing the rest of the house allows for a minimalist method to create a distinct contemporary design while providing a low maintenance building envelope. An outdoor living area with a gas fireplace looks out onto the courtyard. The materials used include sustainable new growth cedar that wraps from the o utside of the house and continues to the inside. The house was designed to accommodate three mature existing live oak trees that provide ample shading.
